Referring to time as a contradiction the work explores the notion of a nostalgia and the romantic inability to let go of things, to keep memories alive, whilst considering the volition of forgetting the past in order to be able to believe in the future. In fact, although we are often implored not to forget past slights or traumas, of either an individual or communal nature, we also, in a sense, have a duty to forget. Oblivion is a kind of necessary work that we must engage continuously in order to construct a meaningful life-narrative.
This body of work consists of sculptures, collages, embroidery, photos, investigates how the environment we live in shapes our memories.
